This video shows how to troubleshoot the TouchPad
on your HP notebook in Windows 10. The TouchPad is a touch-sensitive surface
on the ClickPad on some HP notebooks. Follow these steps when your TouchPad is not working. First, turn the TouchPad off and back on again. Double tap the upper left corner of the TouchPad
to turn it off, then repeat to turn it back on. Performing a hard reset might fix the problems
with the TouchPad. First, turn off the notebook, then remove the notebook from any docking station. Disconnect any external devices. Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook. Remove the battery from the battery compartment. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds
to drain any electrical charge from the battery.
Put the battery back into the notebook, then plug in the AC adapter. Press the Power button to turn on the notebook. If a startup menu opens, select Start Windows Normally, Then press Enter. Reconnect all external devices and run Windows
Update and HP Support Assistant from the Internet to
update the drivers. Make sure you have the latest drivers for
the TouchPad. Go to support.hp.com. Click Software and Drivers. Type your model number, then click Find my product. HP automatically detects what notebook you
are using. Choose your operating system from the drop
down menu. Click Driver – Keyboard, Mouse, and Input
Devices, then click Download next to the TouchPad driver.
Open the Downloads folder and double-click
to install the latest driver. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete
the installation. You can restore the notebook to a previous
software configuration when the TouchPad was working correctly. Go to support.hp.com for more information
on how to restore to previous versions. If the TouchPad will not turn on, install
updated software and hardware drivers for your notebook. Type Settings in the search bar, then click Settings. Click Update & security. Click Check for updates. Windows Update checks for updates, then available
updates are displayed and installed automatically. Restart your notebook.
