Hey what’s up that is so first today, I’m going to show you how it is and diagnose problems with your claw position sensor with a ricotta Y chart and by exploiting time this basic multimeter. Alright, before we go any further, I recollect I need to mention that this testing procedure will merely is currently working on mechanically controlled roller dishes like this one and that it will not work on electronically ensure roll slabs, like we have here alright. So next you want to find your accelerator place sensor and in our case it’s going to be this guy right here on the other side of our throttle form, and then you ,’ ll hear your connector and the wires the channel your control berth sensor Tasks is it receives a constant supply of voltage which in our case is 5 volts and sand from your ECU and then it varies that voltage based on the position of the control slab and then casts that back as a signal which is in a DC voltage To your ECU and then your EC exerts that message, along with all the other inputs from your other sensors, to do things like merely ignition timing and likewise adjust your ga injectors and all the components that help your engine operated. Smooth alright. So if we’re going to be testing, your throttle is just sensor without a cable sketch, so we need to figure out which one of these cables does. What exactly so. The first thing we want to do is we go into our vehicle and then turn the key to the on arrangement without turning on the engine. This method, the ECU will cast ground on voltage to the throttle position sensor all right. Next, we’ll remove our connector. Next, we get our multimeter turn it on and positioned our regulates on 20 volts DC, since we don’t expect to measure anything above 5 volts. The next one up on the puts scale on our multimeter will do which in our case is 20 next, we’ll award our black Tesla and then we’re going to test each cable for voltage and the one that establishes us 5 volts. We’re going to write down as our constant voltage afford cable. So here’s the first one , good-for-nothing so I can 1 good-for-nothing and final one there “theres going”. We came 5 volts, so we’re going to go to the back of the connector and we’re going to write down this wire, which is this white and brown wire as our constant voltage render cable. Alright. So next we’re going to find our foot wire and we do that by quantify defiance from the two remaining pins to ground. So we get our multimeter turn our directs back to alt back to ohms, and I’m going to choose this last-place location, which will not only return us a reading but likewise announced a beep when we have ground okay. Next, we’re going to test the two remaining wires and you want to make sure you don’t test the last wire, which was our constant wire. So it’s not a good project to test the resistance of a hot wire. You could either impairment the wire or your multimeter okay. So let’s try the first one. Oh here we go first, try we got it so we spotted our constant soil wire, which is this guy and I constant voltage render cable, which is this one. So the midriff one has to be our signal wire all right. So next we’re going to check our control stance sensor for its voltage output. So firstly we’re going to reattach your connector and then go to our multimeter and leant the designates back to 20 volts. Okay. So next we’re going to back probe our signal wire and our ground wire and, in my view, paper clips will work. Great for back probing, these connectors simply make sure you get them in all the way and you make good contact, and next I’m, going to use these alligator clips attached to my experiment leads to connect to the back of these cables. So, first our signal cable, but before I fix my dirt cable, I should say that this car is supposed to have one volt at idle coming out of the control rank sensor and since the key is already in the on location and we have power supply this Auto position sensor and the control slab is always all the way closed like you would have it at idle. We should have one volt here formerly I attach this: there we go and we got 0 95, which is pretty close to one volt, alright. So next we’re going to go from closed, throttle or idle, which is where we are right now to wide open throttle. So I’m going to do this manually. I’m going to do this slowly and what you want to look for is in a steady increase in our voltage predict. You don’t want to see it to mount around you. Don’t want to see it to go down that up. You just want to see it go up smoothly and steadily and then on the way down, you want to see a decrease in the same man all right here we go. I’ll try to go kind of fast, all right, wide open for all, and we got four detail six rods. So now we’re going to go back down and you want to make sure again. This goes down steadily: it doesn’t climb around and goes down nice and smooth there. There you have it alright great. So, as you viewed a photo position, sensor can supply voltage and as evolved as the control illustration open the voltage supply it steadily increased and, as it closed, the voltage ply is steadily abridged and that’s, what you want to see from a good sentiment sensor. All right now on to the second test, which is trying to assimilate how the engine is shaking around while the car is running, because you can have a throwable speciman broadside, can supply voltage properly under these circumstances with the engine off but wants to deter non the Engine and everything is moving around and sounding around. It might have a problem doing this in a proper, continuous and constant nature. So what we’re going to do is try to just assimilate and the moving device by exactly tapping on this sensor. With an result of a let’s, say, screwdriver and then opening a throttle dish and then closing it. Okay, I’ll try to do this low, but faster. So you guys don’t get bored okay, so we impelled it back to 4 6. As I tap on it, it doesn’t move so now we’re going to go back down all right back to 0 95 and I can’t get it to budge either all right. So our learn is very good for this tapas Justin, sir, and I know this throttle rank. Sensor is good, since I haven’t had a check engine light or any other difficulties that might express a prong with the accelerator situation sensor. Let’s talk about. If you get a bad voltage reads from your accelerator prestige sensor all right, so if you don’t get good voltage readings from your throat prestige sensor before you oust the control is just sensor. There’s a couple of things. You should check. First thing you want to check: is this throttle cable? You want to make sure it’s not binding or is stuck anywhere. You want to make sure the stall layer keep moving freely. There’s it’s, a the shaft that’s inside the throttle body is not buying in there. If it is, you want to spray some wd 40 inside here and then try to see if that makes a difference or if you get greater than ordinary reads at idle. You want to make sure that this, the jailer on the bottom here, hasn’t been tampered with because a lot of days parties like to increase their idle to try to hide a maybe a misfire or an machine that’s running rough due to a Vacuum leak and whatnot and then your third dish is going to stay open a little and either. Therefore, your voltage decipher from your total predicament sensor is going to be higher naturally, and then you might think you might have a problem with your thrall point sensor. All the while it was just this fuck that was, I really reached a little too much, likewise more important than everything else. You want to make sure you get this tube off, and then you just wanted to scrutinize around your thrall sheet inside your throttle form, because carbon proliferation could all it’s also sometimes keep your throttle plate open a little bit. You could also get in the way of this, the shaft inside now moving freely. It could effect some securing and therefore throw off your voltage production from the your position sensor anyway, that’s it. I wrap this video up. So if you obtained this disposition helpful at all, please give this video a thumbs up. You may also want to consider checking us on my other videos, peculiarly the ones where I use this multimeter to evaluation other sensors and other components on my vehicles, and I’ll applied some of on the screen as video attaches. So you are eligible to really click on it. Alright, thanks for watching, see you next time,.
