Overwatch 2 – The Complete History of Null Sector

Whats up everybody this is Master Ian Gamer. The Overwatch universe is riddled with violentand villainous factions. From Los Muertos trafficking weapons throughthe streets of Dorado, to the shadowy Talon organization who puppeteers chaos on a globallevel, there is no shortage of antagonists facing those who seek to bring peace and justiceto the world. But as we draw closer to the release of Overwatch2, perhaps the most destructive and omnipresent threat in our spates is the robotic menaceknown as Null Sector. These opponents apparently seek to achieve worlddomination at the cost of human extermination, and thus are likely to be the greatest threatfacing the freshly reformed Overwatch. But these anti-human machines werent alwayshellbent on ruling the world. In fact, their inception is almost sympathetic, and only over experience did they start to spiraling out of control into the global crisis we seeunfolding in Overwatchs sequel. So in todays video Ill be plowing thecomplete record of Null Sector, straddling from their first mutiny in London to the worldwar theyre waging in Overwatch 2. Before we get into it though, Id like toreal quickly remind you to Like, Subscribe, and hit up that bell icon if you experience thisvideo, as that does a ton to help out my channel and sees sure you never miss a future video. But now, tells look at how Null Sector cameto be the greatest threat facing modern daytime Overwatch. The earliest known presence of Null Sectorin the Overwatch timeline is approximately seven years prior to the events of Overwatch 1. This revolutionary omnic organization formed inresponse to the brutal treatment of their nature in the United Kingdom following the globalconflict known as the Omnic Crisis. With big swathes of England having beendestroyed in the campaign, much of the nations reconstruction descended on the backs of omniclaborers. Forced to perform grueling and hazardous work, these automatons often got stuck doing the number of jobs humen scaped. And whats worse is that despite everythingthey contributed to the reconstruction endeavour, omnics were disclaimed the same basic rights andcitizenship held by their human counterparts. They were forced to undergo registration andtransit checkpoint examines simply to live their daily lives in the city. This inconsistency in social status led to muchanti-omnic sentiment amongst the UKs human population, and naturally tensions began torise between the two groups. Needless to say, countless omnics in the UK grewsick of being treated like second class citizens. After so many years of oppression and mistreatment, they were now willing to seize equality no matter the cost, and thus a revolution wasborn. Its ambiguous whether this uprising was thetrue inception of Null Sector, or if the group already existed at this time and merely seizedthe opportunity to perform themselves known, but either way this was their first big stepin waging war against humanity. What started as a series of underground conflictsacross London promptly heightened into confiscate insure of the city, and soon enough the entireworld became aware of their anti-human conquest. By this object, Null Sectors magnetisms werecomprised of not only fomented omnic citizens, but also military units capable of mass destruction. Among the weaponized Nulltroopers and Eradicatorsmarched specialized contingents like the Slicer and Detonator, in addition to retrofittedwar machines like the B73 Bastion unit and OR14s. These older machines had made up massive swathesof the omnic patrols during the course of its Omnic Crisis, and thus were a terrifying sight to see returningto the streets of London. After nearly a month of Null Sectors conquest, the UK was depicting dangerously close to all out war, with the rest of the world possiblybeing not very far behind. The omnic terrorists had captivated Londonsmayor along with the Shamboli leader Mondatta and a hundred others, and nursed them hostagein the Kings Row power plant. However, it was at this point that Overwatchgot involved and began to turn the tide of the conflict. Despite clear seeks from the UK governmentnot to intervene, Overwatch strike commander Morrison sought Tracer, Reinhardt, Mercy, and Torbjorn to infiltrate Kings Row and extricate the hostages. After fighting their way through the streetsand breaching the doors of the power plant, the four Overwatch negotiators were able to savethe hostages exactly in time before Null Sector could blow up the facility.Following this extricate, little is known abouthow the Kings Row Uprising concluded. We know that ultimately the forces of NullSector are overcome, likely due to further intervention by Overwatch, but the exact detailsof how long this took or what happened to the remainder of Null Sectors magnetism field mystery. However, what is known is that by the timethe conflict was over, Null Sector had manufactured their mark.Hundreds of people had lost their lives, andonce again the city of London had been were destroyed by omnic troops. Despite this having been Null Sectors firstbig achievement of invasion, it repetition across the globe and would ultimately prepare them forthe world stage later down the line. Following the Kings Row Uprising, NullSector mainly travelled obscurity for the next several years. We dont know whether they were involvedin other anti-human conflicts during this time, or if they were just perfectly outof the picture during that time period. But either way, the one thing we do know isthat they werent absolutely wiped out in Kings Row.There are two more official mentions of NullSector in the Overwatch canon prior to the events of Overwatch 2. One of these is in a newspaper on Havana, where we can see a Spanish headline that appears to read Who is Null Sector ?, thus indicatingthat Null Sector in some organize or another may still be on the minds of countless people in thepresent era. The second mention was at the very end ofTracers London Calling comic serial. After the omnic revolutionary Kace builds hisescape, Tracer and Winston try to track him down and investigate his connections.According to Winston, its possible thatKace has ties to Null Sector, but regrettably doesnt give any further insight on thematter. He doesnt specify whether Null Sector isknown to still be a threat at this phase, or if Kaces spirit in Kings Row isjust merely reminiscent of the Null Sector Uprising there seven years prior. But either way, these are the last officialmentions of Null Sector prior to their majestic reintroduction in Overwatchs sequel. However, before we move on to Overwatch 2, there is one other event in the Overwatch 1 timeline which apparently features the presenceof Null Sector. At the very end of Storm Rising, which chronologicallytakes place only a year after the Kings Row Uprising, Doomfist is interpreted speaking withan unidentified omnic in Egypt.[ Play clip ]. While it hasnt been officially proven, its reasonable to assume that the omnic we see here is in some way affiliated withNull Sector. Not simply is his appearance reminiscent ofthe Uprising Null Sector action when it is necessary to his visual layout and color scheme, butalso the conversation he has with Doomfist strongly alludes to him being a part of theomnic fanatic group.Doomfist takes note of the fact that the mystery omnicfights for his genu, which is what Null Sector did when revolting in Kings Row. Theyre uprising was in response to omnicoppression at the mitts of humans, but just as Doomfist says in this cutscene, it wasdoomed to fail. Aside from this panorama though, we dont seeor heard of Null Sector again until Overwatch 2. Without delving too much into speculationat this time, the gather we see here is likely what leads to Null Sectors world-wide conquestin Overwatch 2. In Overwatch 1, they were merely an omnicextremist radical. But in the sequel, theyve negotiated apartnership with Talon that has allowed them to bolster their numbers enough to wage waragainst not just the UK, but the entire world. Looking at Null Sectors spirit duringthe upcoming happens of Overwatch 2, this is where we experience them truly start to take centerstage as an opponent of Overwatch. Their return to the spotlight began in Paris, where they faced off against the neighbourhood law enforcement and a small team of recently reformedOverwatch agents in the Zero Hour animated short-lived. In this attack, we received that the security forces ofNull Sector had made on a new visual scheme, and now boasted a more aggressive appearanceand white color scheme as opposed to the primarily purple one we met previously. On top of that, their ranks enlisted brand-new, huge omnic natures ever been seen at their disposal. Like the Bastion and OR14 legions back in KingsRow, these, too, bore a affinity to some of the robot monstrosities deployed duringthe Omnic Crisis. And while this titan would prove to be onlythe tip of the iceberg when it came to the brand-new weapons in Null Sectors arsenal, itspresence in Paris catches Overwatch off guard and the robot is only stopped by the equallyunexpected appearance of Genji, Reinhardt, and other onetime Overwatch members. Together, the operators are capable of defeatingthe gargantuan omnic, and in doing so seemingly fend off the Null Sector attack on Paris. But as it turns out, this was only the beginning. Following Paris, Null Sector began wagingwar across the entire world. The exact sequence of contests following ZeroHour dont seem to be entirely set in stone hitherto, as Overwatch 2 is still in developmentat the time of me making this video and thus certain plot qualities in the narrative are, accordingto the devs themselves, subject to change. However, extending by time the cycle of eventsas theyve is demonstrated to us thus far, Null Sectors next affect after Paris was inRio de Janeiro, where we once again insured a small team of Overwatch agents combat theomnic threat. This mission, which was playable for BlizzCon2 019 attendees, took place primarily in the streets of Rio where Tracer, Reinhardt, Mei, and Lucio fought against countless Null Sector robots. As they battled, the four operators eventuallymade their way onto the Null Sector bid send which hovered over the city. There they found out that the ship itselfwas not only overseeing the assault on Rio, but too contained a factory which was activelyproducing more Null Sector obliges as the clash took place. After destroying the ships power core, the four Overwatch operators fixed their quick escape before the command carry exploded andpresumably crashed down into the water below. During this conflict we were introduced toeven more discrepancies of the Null Sector impels, including variou airborne groups, quadrupedalartillery guns, and perhaps most notably, the immense Behemoth omnic which dished asthe missions final boss. All of these represented the enormous amountof progress which had been made by Null Sector since Kings Row , not only in terms of thetechnological advancement of their components and weaponry, but likewise the prodigious increase in theirnumbers. At this spot, it became clear that Null Sectorcould very well become “the worlds largest” impressive menace to face the world since the Omnic Crisis. Alongside Rio de Janeiro, the other confirmedlocation in which Null Sector initiated an attack was Toronto, Canada. However, now they only apparently more successfulin their invasion, as according to the Overwatch developers, Null Sector has been activelylaying siege to Toronto for an undisclosed length of season by the time Overwatch showsup. Located on the footage prove during BlizzConline, we can see Null Sector action actively patrolling wall street and apparently foisting martiallaw upon our fellow citizens. One particularly dour detail to take noteof in Toronto is that, aside from Sojourn, we dont meet any humans left occupying thecity. All remaining citizens appear to be omnics, which, considering the anti-human goals of Null Sector, could be a horrifying indicatorof what has befallen the citys human population following Null Sectors arrival.Looking back over the part history of NullSector, its quite remarkable to see how far theyve managed to come, and in sucha short amount of day. Over the course of really seven years, theywent from a single, violent uprising in London to all out war on a global scale. While the accolades of the omnics shouldntbe underappreciated, its clear that Null Sector wasnt capable of achieving suchpower on their own.Jumping back to the conversation Doomfisthad with the whodunit omnic at the end of Storm Rising, Null Sectors spontaneous rise topower exclusively seems to lend further credence towards this unnamed character being a member, if not the de facto leader of the entire omnic militant group. Null Sectors sudden has given rise to supremacy makesa lot more ability when you consider that Talon is likely the ones funding their attempts. In fact, focusing precisely on this one, inscrutable reference, there are a number of interesting thinkings to be made about him. Specially when factoring in a number of metacomments and details revealed by the Overwatch devs themselves. However I wouldnt is the possibility of do him justiceby precisely tacking that discussion onto this video, which is why Ill be saving it forhis own HeroWatch video that I plan to liberate in the near future. Once that video is finished and uploaded, Ill have a link to it in both the cards on screen and this videos description. But otherwise, thats the complete historyof Null Sector so far.
